BBC has added a neat collection of Bushism in their News section.

For those of you unaware of the term, Wikipedia states Bushism it as “…a neologism that refers to a number of peculiar words, phrases, pronunciations, malapropisms, and semantic or linguistic errors that have occurred in the public speaking of United States President George W. Bush…“.

So basically, stupid things said by Dubya, the misunderestimated president (as he said about himself).

Some of my favorites include:

  • “There’s an old saying in Tennessee – I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee – that says, fool me once, shame on… shame on you. Fool me – you can’t get fooled again.”
    Nashville, Tennessee, 17 September, 2002

  • “You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.”
    Townsend, Tennessee, 21 February, 2001

  • “I understand small business growth. I was one.”
New York Daily News, 19 February, 2000

  • “It’s clearly a budget. It’s got a lot of numbers in it.”
    Reuters, 5 May, 2000

  • “Will the highways on the internet become more few?”
Concord, New Hampshire, 29 January, 2000

  • “I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.”
    Saginaw, Michigan, 29 September, 2000

  • “I have a different vision of leadership. A leadership is someone who brings people together.”
    Bartlett, Tennessee, 18 August, 2000

  • “I’m the decider, and I decide what is best.”
    Washington DC, 18 April, 2006

And a few that didn’t make it to BBC’s page but is included on the Wikipedia page on Bushism:

  • “I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family.”
    Greater Nashua, N.H., Jan. 27, 2000

  • “Before I arrived in President, During I arrived in President”
    December 1,2008

    And finally:

  • “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”
    Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

Ah, well. In 12 days it’s finally over.

Nomadic Matt’s Travel Site has an excellent post titled Seven Things to Do in Iceland (Why You Should Go Right Now!).

As a group of us are getting together to go there this Easter, this is a nice place to quickly read up on Iceland if you are interested in joining us. Keep in mind that while the tickets and hotels are still very cheap, they tend to run out sooner or later, and you can already see the prices rise on a daily basis.

Gallery: Seven things to Do in Iceland

Worth adding is also Whale Safari, where a large number of different whales are often sighted all around the Icelandic coast.

Trailer Addict just added a new Japanese Watchmen trailer that looks awesome! Lots of new footage, and most of the scenes gives you that hey-I-recognice-that-from-the-graphical-novel feeling. At least if you have read the graphical novel written by Alan Moore. ;) If you haven’t, do it!

We have now booked flights and hotel rooms for the Easter Iceland trip! :)

Everyone that wants are still welcome to join us, but by now you will have to book the flights and hotel yourself.

For us the total price ended at 4288SEK, but you can get it even cheaper depending on how/where you will stay and where you book. We recommend booking everything at travellink.se.

For further details about times and seating, leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.
